I personally thought that day was my greatest day ever until I reached home. It was a windy night when we had our grade eight graduation. It was a great night we had lots of fun and it was just a great day for me. We had our Assembly before our Party where they gave out medals and awards to students who earned them.
As we (students) entered the hall we saw our parents all sitting and waiting for us to take our seat. I was really happy when I saw my mother and some other members of my family, how they were excited as I was and couldn’t wait for the awards. So, as time passed by, I was called up for the best male athlete of the year and I was so proud of everything I had done. My family and friends were cheering, which enhanced my self esteem. So, then after the first medal I was sitting there in my seat and praying to get another award or medal and that was when I was called up again for another medal. I also received about six other awards, such as the Honor role which made me proud and my family happy.
The Assembly came slowly to an end and my family members congratulated me for my medals and awards and they all seemed so happy and proud of me that they couldn’t wait for me to get home. So, then we had our party with great food and so on.
It was about 11 o’clock when I got home and everyone was still very happy and I kind of felt I was different from what I felt this morning. Until one of our family members yelled out “Why didn’t you get more medals”, that did it for the night. I was so hurt that I actually thought about that comment and wondered why?
After a few hours, I was done with thinking and thought that I had done my best and needn’t to be upset, just because of that comment.
Since, I’m a kind of person, who goes with the society’s trend. When people tell me that I am good at that and that, I start to think that I actually am good at that. Moreover, positive and negative messages affect me effectively. It has been like this since ever and I don’t think that will change as I grow up. I think that my family knows that positive and negative messages do affect me and I have also realized that they sometimes give me negative comments so I could work with that and bring better results.
