She sounds supportive LOL.

I also have low blood pressure and it doesn't do me any harm so it's nothing to worry about, and unless you are physically not doing something, for example; going out, just coz you have low blood pressure or thinking you have other things wrong with you then you are not a hypacondriac.

It means you always think something is wrong with you, you make symptoms up or exagerate them. Not a nice thing for a mum to call you!
Low blood pressure isn't very dangerous thankfully, I suffer too, the only side effect is feeling dizzy when you stand up etc. Drinking more water will help this.

She obviously doesn't understand what the implications of this could be. I also suffer from low bp and it can cause dizziness and fainting. When you feel these symptoms the best thing is to lay down and raise your legs. this has the effect of driving the blood back up to the brain, as low blood pressure is actually the heart not effectively pumping back oxygen to your brain properly and the blood tends to collect in the lower part of your body thus depriving the brain of oxygen.

Perhaps your mum thought that you were worrying too much about having low blood pressure.

I have the same thing, there is one advantage though, we will never suffer from high blood pressure - that's dangerous, low blood pressure isn't.

Don't worry, you'll be fine.

hypochondriac / hypochondriasis

believing irrationally that you are ill or suffering sypmtoms when you are physially well. in extreme cases people can initiate the onset of some medical symptoms through their own irrational fear, anxiety and stress generated by their rigid belief of being ill.

your mother likely made it as a flippant comment - maybe she thinks you talk about your health a lot.

not the most supportive thing to say that's for sure!

If you have low blood pressure then that is a condition that needs to be monitored and attended-to if it worsens to an unacceptable level. Your mother and your GP are a pair of flippant twats. You should report the GP for misconduct, and tell your mother she is a sh*it.

AS YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF TYPING A QUESTION, PLEASE IGNORE ALL OF MY ABOVE ANSWER. NOT ONLY ARE YOU A HYPOCHONDRIAC, YOU'RE A **** AS WELL.

low blood pressure is not that bad....much better than high blood pressure! time to stop telling yourself there's something severely wrong with you (which is what hypocondriacs do)...if you want attention, find better ways of getting it...if you're feeling ill or just "not right," time to acknowledge that it's nothing physical and go see professional mental help.

Are you asking if you are a hypochondriac?
You are if you think there is something wrong with you and there isn't. Frequently.
What did the doctor call you? Do you mean a phone call or he called you a hypochondriac?

Do you even know what a hyperchondriac is? Someone who thinks they are ill and there is actually nothing wrong with them, but the person continues to dwell on the issue making them believe this "illness " exists. See a therapists and issue will go away. Talk about believing the lies you tell others!
