Have a banana - no joke! They contain potassium which can help to calm you down. I'm a musician, and I try to eat one before I perform as I get terrible stage fright.

Breathing is the key. Breath deep into the belly; long, slow, deep breaths in and out for a few minutes. This stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system and makes you relax. Practice is the key. Do this just before your test and keep your breathing steady and even throughout the test. This is a skill anyone can learn, and once you learn it, it will become second nature. It will help improve your overall health and wellbeing.
If you notice people who are tense and uptight, they are always breathing shallow and fast. This activates the flight and fight mechanism in the body and means we are ready to defend or retreat. If there is nothing to defend and we do not use this energy, we go into anxiety.
Good luck!

I'm not a pervert, I swear! But I heard that an effective way of calming nerves before a speech or in your case a driving test, is to have sex. No joke!

Deep breathing is good. You should tell yourself over and over again that the guy sitting in the seat next to you isn't perfect, isn't there to condemn you, and has seen thousands of driving who were worse than anything you could possibly do. Make sure you practice all your turns, hand signals, and parking skills. Being confident in your driving abilities will not only help you pass, it will help you not be so nervous.

To heck with no medication.....take a 2-1/2mg. Xanax. I knew when I took a state board test for a teacher that the anxiety of facing the "inquisition" would unnerve me so I took a Xanax and made a 98, the highest score ever.

Keep several things in mind:
1) Some of these clowns think it's their job to make you nervous
2) They've all seen people more nervous than you and they expect you to have the jitters
3) You probably know far more than you think you do
4) If you don't, you can test again if you fail this time
5) The tester is probably wearing ugly underwear

If your expecting to be calm at your test your nuts. Of course your going to be nervous; it's natural.
Just remember to not think about it and just do it. I'm sure your ready and you'll do fine if you've studied and practiced. That absolute worst thing that can happen is that you fail and you can take it over easily.
No worries, you'll do fine.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

If you need drugs to get calm enough to drive, you have no business out on the streets endangering others' lives.
