I am assuming that you were told to use the breast pump as a way of nipple stimulation. Nipple stimulation helps to induce labor because it encourages the release of oxytocin, a natural hormone that causes contractions. Walking and squats will help to get the baby in the proper position. One of the greatest things for inducing labor is to have sex. The female orgasm can bring on contractions and semen contains prostaglandins which help to ripen and soften the cervix. I hope that this was helpful to you, but remember that if your body and the baby are not ready, labor will not begin.

They tried to induce using the breast pump,. But I was in the hospital. I don't suggest trying this at home. Using a pump or manual stimulationg your nipples releases a hormone or somthing (something like pitocin) therfore starting labor. Be be warned things can happen fast!! I've heard of walking too. I tried both of these and neither put me into labor I had to have the Pitocin.

The stimulation of nipples I think was 1-2 per breast. Do one side then the other then back to the first. I think I did each breast 3 times.

Babies come when they are good & ready to come into this world. NOTHING helps mother nature. Just keep on walking, having sex, swats etc.

My 2nd child was a week LATE. I did everthing imaginable to get him OUT!!! I just finally let nature take it's good old time.

Talk with your OB/GYN for any other suggestions!

It doesn't work. When I was a week over-due with my son, I tried everything. Nothing worked... Squats, sex, running... The baby will come when he/she is ready.
