From my experience, you might have one of two problems;

1) IF your black spot is on the blossom end of your melon, you probably have what is called "Blossom-End Rot". As mentioned previously, you'll have to remove the fruit and throw it away. This is usually caused by uneven soil moisture. Try mulching around the plant and irrigate thoroughly when necessary

OR

2) IF your watermelon shows signs of black rot occuring anywhere else other than on the blossom-end.... you probably have "Belly-Rot" (yes, that's what it's called!). You can eliminate this problem by staking or caging the melons so that they don't come into contact with the ground AND also try to improve the drainage of the soil around the area.

Hope you're able to salvage your existing melons and found this information of some help! GOOD LUCK!

You may have over watered it but that's not really the problem. The problem is the water has given your poor plant a disease. To fix the problem buy Ortho Disease control. It kills over 250 diseases and might slove your problem. You want to nip this in the bud right now my friend if you don't the black spot will move to all other plants next to it. Now the hard part, with black spots your suppose to remove the infected plant from the garden if your spot gets bigger or if other come then your plants is doom to the trash.

watermelons take lots of water while growing. I'd contact your local greenhouse or farm and ask.
