Just think about what this one is asking.
Six minus "what number" is 4?
If you have 6 apples, how many do you need to take away, so that you have 4 remaining?

Well, since this is not the first math question I've seen you put on here, I'm guessing you've found a very nice way to cheat on your homework. If you really are having this much trouble understanding your math, perhaps you should schedule a meeting with your teacher. Otherwise..... this math problem VERY simple, and you could probably have answered it yourself in less time than it took to post this question and read the responses.

6-4=x
x=2

you can't put it in a linear equation because you dont have a (y) variable...a linear equation has to be in y=mx+b or Ax+By=C form
