Your notebook's hard drive.

Trying to put it on an external drive will be problematic at best and MUCH slower.

The idea of moving it between computers is wrong. If you try, MOST computers will never boot because the hardware is too different. Some may not have BIOSs that allow you to boot off external hard drives.

A few considerations:

(1)your internal hard drive will be much quicker than any external one.

(2) If you need to get data from the laptop to another computer(desktop, etc), installing you OS on an external drive is a consideration, although there are better ways to get data from one to another. keep in mind that an OS installed on an external drive does not mean that installation will be able to boot on another computer(unless the hardware, mobo, chipset are the same).

(3) Having said that, there are a few reasons which are compelling ones to install externally- if you plan on booting more than one OS or if you want a backup, this might be a good plan(although it ould be better to ghost the HD instead.

On the Notebooks of course, But It couldn't hurt to back it up on an external.

(If Externally The Speed Of your system Will Severely Decrease)

It doesn't really matter that much, becuase you can reinstall an OS. The labtops HD will load faster. However, I would backup all my important data and application software on the external drive.

I believe it is better to have your O/S on your notebook's hard drive. However, you can also install the O/S on your external hard drive so you can have it in more than one place.

In addition, you can buy this software called Norton Ghost to have a copy of your hard drive in case it crashes, etc. Check out this web site: http://www.buy.com/prod/Norton_Ghost_10_0/q/loc/105/201955877.html

I hope this helps.
