There are all sorts of fancy bulbs out there but just fitting a pair of high quality branded bulbs will produce a noticeable improvement if the orignal bulbs have done a couple of winters.
If you buy crap the headlamp aim will be out and dip /main relationship wrong.
Poundland sell the Crap ones in a set with stop tail bulbs fuses etc for a quid or you can spend a tenner on the same thing from your local petrol station.
Some pick ups did not even have Halogen bulbs, if yours is one get halogen conversion bulbs pronto.

The easiest certain option would be to install a good quality set of driving lights like those made by Hella, Bosch, or Cibie. A good quality xenon light kit requires replacing the entire light assembly and using a new power supply, and unless a VW Caddy has one of those old fashioned standard sets of lights you will need a kit specifically for your car. Driving lights will be much cheaper.
But if you are running cheap no-name bulbs, upgrading to a quality set of halogen bulbs will help too. Avoid gimics like blue filters and the like.

You can use the Xenon headlamp to make the road look brighther. They are a bit expensive,i guess but they work.Unlike conventional Halogen lamps (bulbs) which give out yellow light,Xenon gives out white light.Try it out,who knows might work for you.By the way Xenon headlamps are found on expensive cars like the Mercedes Benz S Class, the BMW 7 series,Audi A8 L,etc, etc.

halogen lights go to your local auto parts store.
just remember be careful and dont touch them with your fingers while installing them oil ftom your fingers can make them blow out and at about 8 bucks per light that can be expensive
