If you've got good veins, not much more than a pierced ear.

All you feel is the prick of the needle entering your skin. Usually the tech., will take your B/P to check if your have hypertension or Hypotension. Normal range should be 120//70 . High B/P like 140/90 or above or hypotension, low B/P like 90/60 they will probably refuse your blood.

Plus you will get a cup or orange juice an usually a cookie. Rise up slow & if you feel dizzy ask to lay back down for a few minutes. Most people feel nothing, just don't jump up fast.

My personal opinion on giving blood is that it is a relatively painless and simple. It doesn't hurt when they draw blood (it feels more like pinch than anything else). And if you have some food in your stomach, you should not feel sick afterwards

My advice is before you give blood: eat a starchy food (sandwich, bagel, pretzel) and drink a glass of water. This will prevent you from feeling woozy. Once your done giving blood, drink allot of fluids through out the day. And you should be fine. :)

Just think of it like this, when you give blood, your helping another person and yourself. I hope I have helped.

Good luck,

Michael

Please drink lots and lots of water the day you give blood. No one told me this and my blood was so thick they couldn't use it. Don't have any caffeine before giving blood. It will dehydrate you. It should take less than 10 minutes giving the blood. It's not too painful and you feel good because you are possibly saving a life.

Take your index finger nail, and your thumb nail and pinch your arm with them ! That is all you are going to feel ! Just drink plenty of fluids after wards.

The only thing you feel when the needle breaks your skin and it amounts to nothing.

it usually feels like the corner of a piece of clear tape poking you. it's irritating (if you didn't know any better, you'd think "who's poking me with that dang tape?!"), but not painful. and you get cookies and juice! ^.~
