Well I love thunder storms and one thing I do is run around in them barefoot!! Maybe that is something you can do to sort of "face you fear" and over come it!! good luck! and I think you'll really enjoy it! :)

Well I have never been afraid of storms, in fact I love them, but I have my own phobias and the one that was the most debilitating for me was bridges, could not stand going over them, avoided them whenever possible. But then I moved to a place that well is surrounded by water and to get literally anywhere I had to cross a bridge. I had the heart pounding, lump in throat, stomach lurching moments for about 2 days and then HUH! they were gone. So my advice to you is to go out side during the next storm. Be safe don't attract lightening but go out. See the wonder and beauty of the lightening and the sky and hear the thunder as the shaking of a piece of board on a movie set. It may not happen the first time, but eventually it will lesson the fear as you will have knowledge that it really can not hurt you if you take precautions.
I wish you the best of luck!

Hey Gald Jr., most people have some kind of phobia. If not they are not normal. The fact you are willing to talk about it means you are OK. Some will get over them with time. Some don't. I swallowed a fish bone when I was very young. I still won't eat much fish today and I am almost 62.
In time you will learn that storms are part of our environment and we do need the rain water to replenish what we use up. You are probably wise to respect the power of nature's forces. However if you understand them, you may not fear them. So go read up on it and may be someday you can help mankind harness it's power to our benefit.

Best thing to do is feel the feeling. As irrational as it may sound, fear can be crippling. When it happens, be aware of what's going on inside your body. Breathe through it. Don't judge yourself for having the fear - to a part of you it is very real. With time the fear will not have as much grip. Get another part of yourself, the part that knows it is behaving irrationally, to help you deal with it.
You know watching a thunder storm is magnificent - especially when you are safe inside and not likely to get struck by lightening. They can be awesome - better than fireworks.

I really don't know what to tell you, it is probably not the best Idea but I like to drive up in the hills and watch them. I think they are beautiful. It is good to have a healthy amount of fear, but I think hiding under the pillow is a little much, although I think you don't know what your missing. I am terrified of sharks mostly the Great White, but someday I am going to Australia on a cage dive. So I guess you need to face your fear, but be smart about it.

Oh i feel your pain. Thank goodness for basements during storms! Gosh if they say tornado watch i'm hitting the basement. Now, if there are small children with me I'm not like that because I try to make it so they aren't frightened and I'm the BRAVE one . It's strange. I become the brave person there, making them laugh when the thunder comes and the lightening. Alone though I'm freaking

The best thing to do for your fear is educate yourself. You usually fear the unknown. The chances of you being injured due to lighting etc. is very slim. confront your fear, have fun, watch the beauty of the storm. Mother Nature is putting a beautiful performance on for you, embrace it.

Some people say you should face your fear.
Look it in the eye and analyse it.
Have you tried watching a thunderstorm with someone you trust to protect you? It can be a magnificent spectacle.
If you don't get over it, I'd advise you not to come to Guadalajara in the summer. They rip the sky apart almost every day.

it is not false impression that is actuality. isn't being atheist the comparable as not believing in God /Jesus? how is that a false impression or worse yet, hate? and particular i'm getting indignant at circumstances with atheists yet that doesn't recommend that I hate them. i'm getting mad at my kin at circumstances too. anger does not = hate! feels like your the single with misconceptions.
