We're not suppose to know that you god damned traitor!!!!!!

Now Iran and Iraq can be shia allies (the new Iraqi gov already displayed their independence from the US when they supported Hezbollah).

I don't think we can leave though. We started this chaos...NOW WHAT?

Commonly available, yes, but people have an amazing capacity to ignore what doesn't fit into their worldview.

Bravo to the answerer who calls pre-invasion Iraq "our strongest ally in the war on terror". I absolutely agree. And I also think that Iraq could now become a problem... a nation with a much stronger infrastructure than Afghanistan becoming similarly taken over, more or less, by terrorists could become a REAL threat. If you like conspiracy theories, maybe Iraq was al Qaeda's payment for the bombing job. I'm not saying that's the way it is, but it works that way.

is it common knowledge that bush and his backers want to take over the iraqi oil fields and flood the market with semicheap oil, in an effort to break the monopoly that opec has? It was a kinda optimistic plan, but they figure they have nothing to lose, after all they arent paying for the war, and no one they care about or even know if fighting in it.

No, why would that be common knowledge? When we went into this 'mistake' we were all pro-Iraq war because of 9/11. No one said, "Hey, maybe he's NOT involve with al-Qaeda"

Check out this site: http://www.wanttoknow.info/9-11timeline60pg

Its a time line of events surrounding 9/11 from the 70's to the present and each entry has references from the main stream media to back it up. No theories, just facts. Excellent reading.

Correct. We displaced our strongest ally in the war on terror..siting the war on terror as our "motive".

What's more is we pulled troops from the real war on terror to do so.

But... he shot Bush's daddy...

I think that's about it for an explanation as to why we went in there in the first place - revenge.
