TREASURE ISLAND!! It's 1/2 across the Bay Bridge, between San Fran & Oakland. The exit is easy to miss, so watch for it carefully. It's in the left hand lane (as you are coming from San Fran) and is exit 4a.

I found this online, to show you what it's like!

I'm not sure if this link will work, but here is a map:

Embarcadero facing the Ferry Plaza Building, and likewise the Ferry Plaza Building facing the Embarcadero. Go to top of the hill on California Street. Go to Chinatown, NorthBeach, Financial District. Check out Fog City Diner. Maybe a night shot of Fisherman's Wharf. Also the SBC park (PacBell, AT&T, whatever it is called now). SouthBeach area, SOMA area. Coit tower and the houses around it.

Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, Coit Tower, views from Taylor and Union Sts. (looking north), Mt. Tam (looking east), Columbus and Vallejo Sts. (looking toward downtown), and from Twin Peaks (looking northeast)...buy lots of memory, it's a gorgeous city. I think the most beautil night view is that of downtown when entering on the Bay Bridge - with the GG Bridge on the distant right.

For skyline, Treasure Island hands down. It is the island halfway across the bay bridge. Only really easily accessible by car. It is closer than some of the other lookout points and not as susceptible to the night fog.
