I am one of the many rational people in the world who question the official story behind 9/11, and I don't know who you mean by 'they' so I'll answer based on the assumption 'they' are the government, namely Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Bill Kristol, Condoleeza Rice, Jeb Bush, Karl Rove, and their sidekick George W. Bush. They did it because of the unlimited power that 9/11 has given them, the ability to get America behind a war with unquestioning resolve. They did it for the money, the profit that the war business produces, the oil that we need for our country to prosper. They did it for, what they believe, is best for our country in their sick and twisted minds. Remember that 9/11 has benefited nobody more than the Bush administration, and this is one of the key things to examine when trying to solve a mystery, the motive. They also had the means and opportunity, so the assumption that it was purely Al-Qaeda is hard to believe when the crime has not been properly investigated. I hope that is close to answering your question.

Agree with who.
I agree with my fellow researchers, who have concluded that it was an inside job, done by the government.
Why did they do it?
So they could get justification for making war on Afghanistan and Iraq, thereby controlling the opium supply, and the oil supply.
