I have never used coupons before, but lord knows I should. My husband and I have eight children between the two of us, and I have heard Walmart accepts all competitors coupons. Can someone give me some websites or some advice on the best way to begin doing this? I have heard there are 'tricks of the trade' to get the most for your money grocery-wise. Thank you in advance!!

At work, you can probably find others who "clip coupons" as well. Just find a couple of coworkers or friends who do this and form a group. Y'all can pass along your coupons to one another so instead of having one coupon for bounty or rice-a-roni, you can now get 4 because in general people need different things at different times. These coupons are typically from the sunday paper. Some areas offer 2 sunday papers for 50c more than one, so do that if it fits with what you're doing.

You can also buy coupon books (like on Ebay). These books go for about $10 give or take and have 30 mail in coupons, each allowing you to get $10 worth of coupons in categories that you specify. So each book is worth at least $300. It'll cost you for the book and for two stamps/envelopes for each, but you still come out way ahead.

When using coupons, just know your stores. For instance, Kroger triples coupons up to 39cents and doubles up to 50c as does Tom Thumb. But Tom thumb'll only do it on the first coupon fo that shopping trip unless they still have the old software in their registers. Albertsons will periodically double up to $2! and trip up to $1 or triple up to 75c and double up to $1. That's a time to clean up.

Also, be sure to join the supermarket's customer program (for free). We get $5 off of $50 and $7 off of $70 all the time from our local grocers.

If you buy particular brands, pampers, tide, etc, see if the company has a mailing list. We get $2 and $1 off coupons all the time directly from the manufacturer just for signing up!

And yes, be sure to use an organizer, because, lord knows, it's a pain when you can't find the coupon you knew you had! Especially now that you'll have a ton of savings at your fingertips!

That should get you started!

Hope that helps!

I use coupons occasionally, but just what I get from the Sunday newspaper and friends. (So far I haven't found a coupon website online that doesn't overload your email with scams, crap and spyware.) One thing I do recommend: look for the grocery store flyers and plan out your shopping trip. Look for the "buy one get one free" deals, but don't go crazy and buy stuff you don't normally buy. I do the shopping for our household and basically I save $50.00 for every $100.00 I spend. And that's "without" coupons and just by planning.

You should start by buying your Sunday paper. Newspapers include coupons. Also try online coupons. Try to sign up for offers like Pampers, Upromise, and much more. With promotions aside, you should see coupons coming your way.
