I recently went to go have my baby measured and I am due on November12th my doctor after reviewing the measuments said that if my baby continues to grow at the normal pace I would be looking at delivering a 10 1/2 to 11 pound baby. I was just wondering if this was normal and if lots of women have delivered babies as big as that. This is my first and I am kinda scared.

I have a friend that had an 11 pound baby. Her Dr. let her go 4 weeks past her due date. She ended up having a C-section because her labor wouldn't progress , but it probably wasn't because of the size.

No, it is definitely NOT normal, but is not unheard of either.
After you deliver they will be checking your baby for low blood sugar to rule out diabetes. Any child born over 9 lbs is at a higher risk of having or developing it later.
I have 3 kids that were born just a few ounces shy of 10 pounds and they were all checked thoroughly after delivery.

Good luck and Congrats!

My nieces first baby was about 6 pounds she had no problems. The second was about 10 and she had serious difficulties as she has a small pelvic girdle. As she was small it caused pain and was slower. The baby was injured slightly in the shoulder but fortunately only needed physical therapy. Speak to your doctor about it because my mother who is shorter had many ten pound babies but has a very large pelvic girdle. She says this is relevant to natural child birth but the body also releases some chemicals to help soften up for child birth and often the pelvic girdle enlarges during pregnancy as the baby develops and sits in that area from what I have seen.
I would suggest you do not do like many women and continue to wear jeans allow your hips to move out naturally with pants designed for pregancy, maternity pants with some stretch to them.
Make sure you stay in shape physically it helps with child birth from what I have seen with friends.
Walking seems to help alot with delivery if you can keep doing it or stayed active my friend went out dancing alot and she had an easy delivery right up to birth time to help her deliver naturally her babies were good size but not huge the second was getting to the larger sizes as mentioned but below it.
As my niece was not expected to have a large baby as the first was 6 pounds they kept her in labor and the doctor said if I had known how big this baby was I would not have let you have such a hard labor. The main concern was the babies shoulder had some muscle damage. You may want to make sure that the doctor is ready in case you need a c section. A girlfriend of mine had a choice she was so far along to break one of the babies collar bones or her pelvis she said I chose my pelvis to learn later a baby heals better than she ever will. I think you can opt for a cesarian and you can arrange for this in advance. Make sure the doctor does the bikini line cut as it heals up faster and better because less muscles are cut and it looks better. I have had two there.

First congratulations on your first baby.thats great. second yes my sister delivered an 11 lb boy a few yrs back.it was really hard on her but hes good and healthy. If you are really that scared see if the dr will give you an epideral for pain or you may consider a c-section....anything to make the delivery easier on you. It can be normal to have a big baby so dont worry and God Bless

My husband was over 10 pounds when his mother delivered him. It's not unheard of. You might have a difficult delivery if you are planning in the "natural method." Bring up your concerns with your doctor. They may want to induce you a little early so the baby will not be that big.

Don't be too scared.. those are only estimates.. I was immediately induced because from measurements they thought my son was well over 10 pounds.. he was still big, but only 9 and a half pounds..
No matter what size, you doctor is not going to let you do anything you can't do. There are several options your doctor will go over when the time comes and you will be fine.

I had a baby girl at the age of 17 that weighed 10 pounds eleven ounces! No kidding! I even had her without an epidural. If your frame is small you might need a cesarean. I was borderline gestational diabetic too, that can make your baby bigger. Good Luck!

It's unusually big, but not unheard of. My mother-in-law delivered a 10.5 lb. baby naturally. However, it has been my experience that predictions about the baby's size made by ultrasound(assuming that's how your doctor measured) can be very inaccurate, especially 2 months in advance!

I've heard of a lot of babies 13 pounds, this is your first baby. I'm sure your Gyn. will give a C section because it is to big to deliver by vaginal birth. Best of luck with your beautiful baby.

My son was 10lbs 8oz at birth, they had to do an early C-section because they could not get him to stop growing inside of me, otherwise he would have been bigger!!!!

Do you have gestational diabetes? Have you been tested? They claimed that I did and that was the reason for the baby being so big, so they put me on insulin for the last 2 months to try and slow the baby's growth, but it didn't work.

My step mom delivered my brother the natural way, and with no meds, and he was 10 lbs 8 oz! My great grandma said that my uncle was actually 11 lbs 3 oz.
