All of the above is true. However, the fact is everyone dies and smokers choose to live with these consequences. They are will to do this, on account of the small satisfaction that smoking brings into an otherwise dull life. Who are we to judge.

Shortness of breath, coughing, emphysema, blindness, impotence, heart disease, strokes, lung cancer, throat cancer, laryngeal cancer.
As Big Pharma says: "These symptoms, which may occasionally be troublesome, will generally resolve with time." I suppose that means death.
