Who cares? Are you going to live there? Lets hope its a long way from me. To me Britishness is all about having liberal forward thinking attitues which is why this country is such a great place to live. I wish you could see both sides to an argument but I fear all you have done is read the rubbish they write in the papers about bogus asylum seekers and terrorists and have taken it as fact. Our population is aging at an alarming rate and we desperately need a population of working age to support the retired population in the future. Immigration is an asset and i welcome immigrants from Europe. Poland is extremely worried about its "brain drain". They are not concerned that lazy dole scum are leaving for Britain they are worried because those that have come here are a major asset. Britain is a country full of immigrants and most came here because unlike a minority of stupid citizens they can actually take advantage of the opportunities this country gives.

"Britishness" is an ever-changing set of characteristics. There are blokes who watch Chelsea FC play on a Saturday afternoon, celebrate a win by swilling pints of Stella Artois down their throats, then off to the club where they play RnB, garage and hop-hop and then round off the evening with a curry or a kebab. These people don't even understand in what way national characteristics have altered, because they are proud to be "British".

The question is not really about Britishness, it's about a period in time, and that time is in the past, because Britishness has moved on. If you want to hold on to that historical concept, then I recommend that you go and live with your Nan.

The unpopulated areas? Hey, we all immigrated at some point. The only immigrants I'm bothered by are the squirrels.

Great minds think alike. I was going to point out that there are small islands where immigrants won't go, shucks, they even have trouble getting the people born there to stay there.

And, I see an answer saying the Isle of Wight. I must assume that is the island I was thinking of. Good job, Notre...

You are joking, right. There is no part of Britain that has a low level of immigrant population!

These are two entirely different questions. Britishness is a political construction, and one of the points of being British nowadays is to allow the other cultures who have come here to grow with their own culture and ours.
Why don't you p*ss off to a distant island somewhere, after all we have 6,000 of them knocking about.

North Yorkshire! Especially some of the more rural areas. I know in my home town there are 4 families that are decended from ethnic minorities and they are all very nice! However you are probably southern and we all know what a shower of b@stards you lot are!
