My son lost the presidential race in 6th grade to a kid who took a stack of books to his speech, slammed them on a desk next to the podium and said, "Are you sick of homework? Well, so am I. Voting for me won't change the amount of homework you get, but I will be on your side. I'll think of a way we can work together to make homework easier, though. And, make lunchtime more fun and helpt to stop the rule that we can't run or skip around the track at recess, etc."
He won on that campaign! He stuck to what the kids wanted to hear. He was on the "Mark".
