Do people think less of short people? I don't know, maybe I have a complex or something. I wish I were a big guy. They seem to get so much more respect in society with women, in business, in sports, etc. But I am just thankful to be alive. I still have my health. Things could be much worse. Is this a petty insecurity?

I don't think so. My husband is about 5'8" or 5'9"...I've dated men who were taller, but...it doesn't matter to me that he's only a couple inches taller than me.
Although, it does seem that the world is made for tall, slender, right-handed people. I'm thrice screwed, then. LOL.

I wouldn't say it was a "petty" insecurity, since society seems to demand that men are tall, with a fit physique. Society also demands that women be gorgeous, and graceful. Well...no one's perfect.

Screw what society thinks. What matters is what YOU think. Are you a kind person? Generous? Loyal? Compassionate? Interesting company? Intelligent? Hard-working? If so, then who cares about the rest?

How did you come to conclusion that you're short?
Maybe where you live the average is taller. But 5'8 seems like 1 inch below average to me, and I don't see why get worried over 1" in height. I think many famous people lie Tom Cruz and Johnny Depp are about thay height, no?

Call me shallow, but I'm 5'8 and I like to date taller men. It's not that I dislike shorter guys, I just can't go out with them. Especially when I wear heels. I want to feel feminine and I guess when I'm with a short guy I feel like I'm an Amazon. Keep in mind, there are a lot of short girls out there. If you're a good guy, you'll find someone who appreciates you no matter how tall you are. Best of luck!

A human shouldn't be judged on their height or intelligence (even in greatness or lack thereof) . A person should be judged according to what lies on the inside. Their personality and lifestyle... These are the values that truely matter.

This is my personal belief, by the way. Not a paid endorsement from EHarmony.com. This is how I've learned to look at people.

By the way, I'm 5'11" - 6'0". You aren't that much shorter than me.

I am 6'5 and I honestly think tall guys have an easier time with women and work and life in general. A lot of my shorter friends have a chip on their shoulder it seems because they are short. But I just dunk on them and tell them to sit in the corner. Just kidding.

Hey short people are cool. I'm short and so is my hubby, he's 5'7". We are a perfect pair. Find a cute little short girl to marry, you'll be very happy! Don't worry about your size. Size doesn't make the man, it's your character and your heart that make a difference.

That's such a petty insecurity. I find myself attracted to a man without regard to height. In fact, since my divorce, the men I"ve been with have been around your height while my ex-husband is six foot three. It really mattters not. Not to me anyway.

In my opinion, people don't think less of short men. I, personally (a female), get to know the person first. Short or tall, if you are nice person, your height doesn't matter. It's what's inside that counts.

Your good so long as you can reach the pedals on your car and see over the steering wheel. You're not officially in trouble until you need to sit on the phone book to drive.

i don't think so. being short isn't really a disadvantage, it's just differant than tall people... i mean, if you were 4' 8", then maybe, but you are not really that short.
