Lets get 1 thing clear, I am not a rasist or an idiot I just have a question that I cant seem to fiure out. In the memory of the Croc Hunter S. Irwin. I would like to know why do you all like to mess with nature e.g. wild animals. Im sure its some black ppl who do but not as many as you all. I mean I would be shocked if I turned on the news and heard a black man was killed by a sting ray, or mauled by a lion, or a bear. Can you all give me a good explination for this and if you dont have anything intellegent to say just keep it to yourself

LMAO, first off I am not racist in any form or fashion, and this is a funny question. If everyone on here would quit acting fake and so politically correct they would admit that generally speaking people of color do not tend to be doing this type of thrill seeking entertainment. Most of my friends are African American, Black, Colored, (whatever the hell ya want to call it so you don't get your panties in a bunch) and as an amature ghost hunter I can't get a single one of them to go explore possible hauntings with me and we get into this discussion all the time. As they point out to me, you don't see black people sky diving, ghost hunting, wrestling crocodiles, going to see what the noise was in scary movies, etc. . . . now here are a few of the answers that have been tossed around: Because there's no money involved, if it don't make dollars it don't make sense, because they know how to mind their own business and leave well enough alone, because there would be no one there to come and rescue the silly white person, because they are too busy working to be doing that dumb S**t, now are any of these highly intelligent answers but they could all suffice. I wish I could give you a highly articulate answer that has a lot of sound reasoning but as many hours as I've spent discussing it there just doesn't seem to be a logical explanation. But here is another point, why don't you see as many black serial killers as whites but twice as many black men in jail. . . hmm. . . not necessarily a related thought but something to think about all the same.

Well, one could argue that because of church doctrine in the 5th century, when the church as government demanded Europeans explore, the church also commanded that man should have complete dominion over the earth. Many take that literally to this day, believing (erroneously in my opinion) that this includes the animal kingdom. Many people, and like it or not you are right, mostly whites, believe that they can simply mess with nature and nature, by the grace of God, won't mess back. Well guess what, a lion or tiger looks at you and it's lunchtime. I truly believe it is a throwback to the idea of man having dominion over the animals.

Consider this, Africans and Native Americans, through their cultural beliefs, took the view that animals were to be respected, and that if killed their spirits were thanked for the sacrifice. This tends to get lost when this kind of subject is discussed.

I offer this to you as a possible answer.

For those who may wonder, I am a white man of European heritage.

Well I'm sure there must be a lot of black people who are interested in wildlife and that do these types of things. I'm sure that in countries where a vast proportion of the population is black have many of these types of accidents. Like in Africa or somewhere like that.
I do not know how many of the population in Australia are black but my guess is that it is predominately white. As Australia has more things that can kill you than anywhere else in the world there is going to be a great deal of wildlife nuts there.
Remember that Steve Irwin was not just a nutter! He was actually helping to save crocodiles and other creatures who were trapped or in danger. he did not "mess" with wildlife at all. It was one of his philosophies that he did not tamper with nature - you will see this clearly if you watch his programmes. He was about undoing the harm caused by HUMAN life on animals natural habitat.

I'm sorry, I just find this funny. I've wondered this too. I like the outdoors, camping etc, but my black friends say they won't touch the outdoors with a ten foot pole. Don't worry, your question is not offensive at all. I, too would be shocked if there was a black man that was killed by a wild animal. I don't mean this in an offensive way AT ALL, but do you think it could be because most blacks ancestors were brought over by slavery and they've had more than their fair share of the outdoors due to plantations etc?

Just a guess here but, a higher percentage of the population in the US and (and Aussie) is white. Which means the probabilty of a white guy getting killed by a wild animal is greater then that same wild animal killing a person of color. Thats just statistics.

I think to be fair, black people have just as much to do with wild animals but possibly don't have TV shows about it. I think it's a bit of a sweeping comment to say we ALL mess with nature though!
