You can register for the baby shower whenever you want to. If I were you I would start scanning the unisex products first, then after your ultrasound I would add everything else. I would start taking TOURS ASAP, because you never know which hospital is the best for you until you take a tour, and the tours are free so I would go to as many as I want. Me, personally I went on three tours and fell in love with this hospital that had what they call Mother and Baby Suites-where the two of you are never separated and your room has plenty of amenities for not only you and baby, but also for your significant other or another relative

You can sign up for the classes & tour at the hospital anytime. I signed up at like 17weeks for my breastfeeding class, childbirth and infant CPR classes.

You can register anytime you want, but I reccomend going to the store and registering, not doing it online because they have a ton of stuff online that you can't buy in the store.

Congratulations and I hope you have a happy, safe, healthy pregnancy and a happy healthy baby. :)

ETA: Also I reccomend having your shower when you're about 30 weeks. I was 32.5 weeks when I had my 1st shower and only 2 days later, I had my son by emergency csection. I was in the hospital when my 2nd shower was supposed to take place. Plus, you're big enough for people to play that awful "lets see how fat mom is" game, but still able to breathe normally, and be somewhat comfortable.

Near the last two months of your pregnancy is a good time to do a tour of the OB

Same about the baby shower near the last two months of your pregnancy, that way you actually look pregnant and you might be knowing if you are having a girl or a boy and they can shop for ethier pink or blue or whatever that way not everything so mutual.

It's never to early to do your research if you have expectations. I felt very strong about private settings, and needed to find a local hospitol that gave me the option to deliver the way I wanted to. On the other hand they didnt have a nusery and I couldnt sleep, my baby kept me up, I was exhausted!
Keep in mind if this is your first and you cant deliver vaginally, you want to be in a large hospitol, that is equipted for emergancy situations.
Now you also have to check where you doctor delivers out of, if he is not licensed to deliver at a certin hospitol, then your tours might be a tour. LOL
baby shower, it's too early, most baby showers are given late third trimester!

I would wait a little while. I registered when I was about 20 weeks along. The hospitals usually will not have you come to take the tour until you are in your 3rd trimester (28 weeks or more).

wait at least until your 24wks pregnant. If something were to go wrong your baby is not viable until 24wks and after that there are major complications. After 27wks is best, babies born after 27wks tend to do good. It would be very painful for you to go through a loss then have to come home to all of that. But I am sure your baby and you will be fine. Congrats and Good Luck raising a little one!!!!

The earlier the better. Later you may not feel up to taking a tour of a hospital and they really don't mind how early you do it.

I would say about 7 months to tour the hospital and fill out any pre-admission paperwork.
