Ok, I teach a flag team and the "captian" has a horrible attitude as well as some other team memebers. I have a total of 6 flag memebers. The capitan is rude and has the worst attitude of all. One just complains and always wants to go on break and cut practice early, and it just seems weak. They are full of drama and I hate it now that I have dealt with it for about 4 weeks or so. Almost a month. I finally realized damn, do they even want to be in flags? From the looks of it and the vibes I get seems like they dont. They didnt even know basic drop spins, they didnt know anything really. Their coach before taught them wrong stuff. I have told the band director a couple times, but I'm starting to lose it. I'm stressing on this. What do I do? I have tried to be more stern and that doesn even work. I dont want them to quit but their attitdues towards the sprot is sooo negative I want to quit! What do I do?

Be strong. Sit down with each person and have a heart to heart with them...let them know that you need a committment or they can be shown the door. A poor attitude is a cancer for not only the flag team, bu tthe rest of the band...make sure they know how serious you are and maybe include the band director if you have too...the director should back you up on this because it is the right thing to do...good luck!!

What I think you should do is get them together as a group and have a meeting and discuss with them the issues that you are most concerned about and that if they dont' really want to devoute themselves to this, then they should go elsewhere to another activity where they will not give so much trouble. Good luck , act as a leader! I'm sure you will be ok, just stand up and tell them how you feel

Take yourself -- and your emotions -- out of the equation. You have nothing personally to lose if these girls fail. We hear you saying that you don't want them to quit, and can understand this, but you need to be realize that possibility. Otherwise, it's just YOUR activity with these girls playing a minor part.

Your role is to facilitate -- and that means that you set the expectations and the rules. So set those rules, and stick to them.

Tell them why you're disappointed (not for the way it impacts YOU, but how it impacts THEM). Then give them their choices. Either they stay with it, and follow your expectations, or they leave. Either choice, you need to honor it -- by letting go if that's what happens, or by enforcing the expectations that you have set for them.

The first conversation you need to have is with the captain. Tell her what you are going to do, and give her the opportunity to make her decision first. If she wants a team to captain, then she needs to follow your expectations. If she doesn't want to do it, or to do it in the way that you are expecting, then you find someone else to take her place. Then you go to the team.

Good luck. Hang in there, and don't forget you're the one in charge.

Can you cut them and get replacements? I hate dealing with people with bad attitudes. Maybe try talking to them but if that does not work maybe you should quit. Flag should be enjoyable and these individuals are taking all of the fun out of it. Good luck on your decision.

Either find a way to make it something they want to do. First you should find out why they are there. If the captain has the bad attitude take him aside and talk to him, if that don't get anywhere find a new one.

Keep at it.

When I was in high school, the flag team was usually made up of girls who did not make the cheer-leading squad.

Make them perform with the marching band for confidence.

threaten to quit coaching them, explain about their attitudes, give them negative feedback when they do something wrong and positive when they do something good. explain your frustration to them and let them decide if they want to stay or not. the serious ones will stay and do better and the ones messing around will just quit

Stop doing it you don't need this in your life right now.
There are better things you could do with your time, helping people who want to be helped.
