I've looked up zoftadol in several search engines and cannot find it. I have the product in a shrink wrap package so I know it indeed exists

Read the package carefully. It will have the active ingredient listed somewhere on it, or the generic name. Then look that up.

do you mean zofadol? If so, it's the equivalent of tramadol/Ultram which is an opiate based analgesic used to treat moderate to severe pain.

check the spelling, it could be zoloft that is an antidepressant or the other, tramadol, for pain
