Using the internet has not been very helpful. I have an account set up with all of the job seeking websites and I check them everyday. I have probably applied to 100 jobs, if not more - I've been called back by about 10 and have had about 7 interviews. I haven't really been that interested in the jobs that I ended up being offered or they weren't willing to pay me what I am worth. Does anyone have any better ideas? By the way, I am a registered dietitian with about 2 years of solid experience - I have a biology degree and a nutrition degree and am working on my Masters. Thanks!

networking is by far the best way to get a job. if you're in school, that's probably the best place to network. go out of your way to use the many resources around you for information. you never know what people can do for you...

I have a couple of ideas to help booster your job search.

Have you reviewed your resume lately? I recommend having a friend or close relative who has experience with human resources review the resume for tips on improving it. Careerbuilder.com has some fantastic tips for writing a resume and a cover letter.

Expand your job searching possibilities. An excellent sources for job openings is where you got your bachelors and your present college where you are working on your masters degree. In addition, colleges and universities are an excellent source to job search and offer excellent benefits to its workers (more than work study jobs).

Read the local paper and pay attention to the science section along with the business section. Sometimes, they can drop hints about potential employers. In addition, go through the local classified ads daily because there are still employers who will not post job listings on the web and prefer the print media.

Finally networking within the community, listening to friends and family, social clubs, or even business clubs.

Good luck! I have added some additional websites for resume writing techniques or job search websites.

Networking is the best way to find a job. First let your friends know that you are looking for a job expecially those in the field. Second, call the career center of the college you received credentials from. Most schools offer services to alumni. Finally, get in touch with your current and past professors (within your major). Often times they know people in the field and are told of jobs before their advertised. People tend to call the local colleges asking if they have anyone that would be a good fit. Check the bulletin boards in your department people will advertise jobs and internships from the community there. Good luck.

U shouldn't just apply for all jobs available. Go for what u really want! Otherwise u'll end up with something u don't like n that's terrible. So decide what u really want n go out to look for it. Don't depend too much on the internet coz many companies that use the internet to find employees are probably not what ur looking for. Go out n see for urself, ask friends, stop by the places u wanna work, even if they don't look for employees, they most likely know best which similar companies do look for help.
And don't be too picky, u have to work ur way up. otherwise u'll still be looking for a job in years.

According to my experience, i also use internet to find a job and newspaper. I will try to send as many application as possible daily. There's another way also, you can visit the company's website that you feel like to work at, then you go to search whether there's any job post that you want to, if they do not have, dun worry, you still can send them an email together with your resume, jus to introduce yourself, who knows if you are lucky, you will be asked for interview and got that job. So good luck!

Networking through friends and family is probably the #1 method to get a job.

Then there is monster.com, careerbuilder.com, linkedin.com, or hire a FREE recruiter/head hunter.

You should just go out in town and look for stores with 'help wanted' signs. That worked for me.
