we're probably the same age and i just went back in 2005 started going to a community college.. my first time was when i did one year way back in 1991 at a university..

at first i thought money for college would be a problem but it turned out that i could get a loan with bad credit and no finances just by filing out a FASFA form and applying for a loan at the financial aid office... alot of people dont know that they can get a nice size of money for free..pays for full tuition and money left for living expenses and maybe pay a lil rent

i got $7,000 for my first year the amount rises the longer you stay in school.. you just need a need for finances and be signing up for at least 2 classes ( which is considered fulltime status)

the amount you recieve depends on your financial situation ... the poorer the better.. because its all about how much you need for tuition and living expenses.. so if you have NO job or incoming income you get the maximum amount but if your working than they subract the amount you make from what you need for tuition and living expenses..

so just go to the financial aid office of whatever school your looking into attending and fill out the paperwork they tell you.. its usually the FASFA form .. your schools financial aid application and then the paperwork for the loan you need.

your school's book of credit classes will probably have each step printed out step by step but in short

1. apply to admissions office $25 fee ( doesnt have to be paid upfront mine was taken out of my financial aid check)

2. go to student advisor ( probably tell you to have to take placement tests to see which classes your eligible to attend like which starting english class or math class)

3. once youve taken the placement test go back to advisor to choose your classes you want

4. then take all info to financial aid ( if you need it.. if you can pay on your own #5 would be to go to registartion office and pay)

5. if you need financial aid you give all the completed info your advisors given you like the claases youve signed up for and wait for your financial aid award to come in the mail.. ( once youve filled out all your financial aid paperwork and handed it in) you use the award to pay for books and wait for the whatever you didnt use for tuition and books to come in the mail as a check..and thats it your done.. schools paid for and you just attend

i took on campus classes my first semster than 2 online classes my next .. the online classes were reaaaallly easy for me anyway.. and if you work there the best thing to register for

I very stupidly left college with only 12 hours to complete. Reason? I married the man I thought was "The Right One," but he turned out to be the wrong one! After 8 years of misery I divorced him and then began searching for ways to raise my kids on my own. I ended up finishing both my Bachelor's and Master's degree the same year and have been glad I did, as I earned a lot more than I would have without the degrees.

I sat down and put a line down the middle of a legal-sized piece of paper, to start out. On the left-hand side I put my skills and interests, and on the right-hand side I put the jobs I thought I could use those skills/interests and which I felt would make enough money through the years to get my kids raised and educated.

Then I narrowed my list down to two choices and researched (through the university's guidance and counseling center) which had training stipends, scholarships, etc. I was accepted by both programs, but took my first choice and graduated with my Master's in that field. It was a great choice, as I eventually went into business for myself and was making $45/hour in work that I loved.

I have since retired, but my education still is a benefit. I hope you'll be successful in getting back to school. A lot of men and women are doing just what you're considering, and they're a lot of support to people who are just starting out.

Keep us posted as to how you're doing!

I decided to go back when I was 32 to be an RN. Do you have any idea what you want to do. You do NOT need to take the SAT's, so don't even bother with that. You will need your high school and any college transcripts . Yes, even your high school transcripts......Call your high school and they can send them to you, I had to do that. Go into the college of your choice and schedule time with the counselor. If you know what you want to do, try to schedule with that programs counselor. Try to schedule time to see the head of the program too. Get all of your financial plans in place as you may not be working as much as before, get all of your finanical documents as well as you will need them for finanical aide, including your last tax return (federal). If a community college check to see if you live in the district that pays for part of your tuition (mine paid about 50%) ask about this at the finanical aide ofice. Well, hope this helps, good luck and congrats on going back!!

Do you mean, get back in high school, like to finish a G.E.D.? or do you mean, go to college.

IF G.E.D. you should talk to the local school system. They can tell you how to get started, what courses you will need, etc.

If college, I would look around for a local community college. There is no need to spend a lot of money to get in practice. The community colleges have lots of good teachers who are experienced in dealing with people who have been out of school for a while. You can go in and talk to a counselor there, or start by taking just one evening school course. Probably it would be a good idea to start with an English Composition course or a basic math course. You are probably out of practice on these subjects and you can get yourself back in mental shape by taking this course first.

You can do this! Many thousands of people, even millions of people, have done it.

Go fot it!!!

I started college 7 years after high school. What I did was take 1-2 classes at night at my local junior college to get started. I ended up doing this for several years and earned my freshman and sophomore units this way. Then I transferred to a 4-yr college and did my junior and senior years in 2 years going full time.

CONGRATULATIONS on deciding you will start college!!!! That is really great! You will not regret it!

well first you need to see what classes you want to take. Is there anything that you think you are interested in at the moment? well all you would have to do is go to a college and see when enrollment starts for the next semester and get and application to register for school and after that it's all a matter of you choosing your classes. and paying for the classes and books.

First have you taken your SAT. If not you need to, and have the results sent to the schools you want to go to. Find out when registration is for the school you want to go to (call them) A lot are already in session and you will need to wait until the end of Dec. or the beginning of Jan. When you go talk to a counselor and see what class you should take.

nicely it would want to be better in some approaches if you're a very sturdy instructor yet maximum are not. also a house schooled youngster would not get a lot contact with different childrens, part of faculty is attending to renowned social training from being round others.
