You'd be best to actually go to the library and start reading, my Son. I know a great deal on many of the Gods and the cultures therein you want to know about but only you can really fine tune to what it is you want to know. You've asked for a great deal of knowledge in a very small space. That's why I sent you to a place that has a great deal of knowledge in a relatively small space -- the public library. Good luck, my child and Blessings.

I know a little about almost each, but more on the Egyptian pantheons.

1. Norse: Thor, Loki, Freya
2. Egyptian: Too many to name and several "creator" gods and goddesses depending on the region of Egypt. (Some are Nut, Geb, Bast, Set, Ra, Amun-Ra, Horus, Anubis, Sekhmet, etc.)
3. Germanic: Hel
4. Chinese: The beckoning cat, lol. That's all I know.
5. Japanese: No idea.
6. Celtic: Cerridwen, Cerunnos, Pan, Faeries, etc.
7. Greek: Athena, Aphrodite, Poseidon, etc.
8. Roman: Neptune, Mars, and all those people...
9. Hindu (Indian): Shiva, Vishnu, Kali
10. Pacific Islander: Pele, and others...

...you know what? A GREAT site for you to check out is godchecker.com It's got ALL the god/ddeses from all the pantheons.

I'm not to keen on the god's anymore but if you want to hear about a facinating Japanese creature then look up the TANGU. They are bird/humans who are not good but not bad, they are very mischeviouse and ever so curiouse. Tangu nest in Japanese maples and normally wear cloaks to hide themselves, they do magic and hate to be tricked. If you trick one then expect revenge, sometimes death depending how seriouse...

Once a boy tricked a Tangu, he told the creature that he could see into the future with his telescope... The Tangu curiouse to know the future traded the boy some magic powder, upon that trade the boy scurried off. When the Tangu realized that he had been tricked he plotted against the boy. One day he caught him off guard, pushing him into a river almost drowning the boy. At the last few moment's he pulled the boy out letting him know that if he tricked one again he wouldbe killed.

Sorry I don't know more. Can you please answer my question though??

1. the Norse were a rough and tumble lot given to battle, mead swilling, wenching, and poetry. Their chief god was Odin who sacrificied one eye to gain wisdom. His son Thor was the god of Thunder and not terribly bright. Loki was the god of mischief whose son was Fenris the wolf. Baldur was the dying god who gets killed by loki's mischief.

2. Egyptian gods often have animal heads - they represent a conceptual evolution from animal gods to human ones. Ra was originally the chief of the gods until Thebes arose in power and their local god became Amon-Ra a mixture of the two.

The Osiris myth is the most popular where he was killed by Set and his wife Isis had to track down the various pieces of his body again.

3. Germanic were not too different than the Norse gods. they had Woden instead of Odin .Woden became the name for Wednesday.

4. The first emperors were divine who taught man the necessary skills of civilization and cultivation.

5. Japan was created by the gods Izanami and Izanagi. They gave birth to Amateresu and Susanoo. Amatersu became the ancestor of the Japanese emperor .Susanoo was trouble maker and once made his sister flee into a cave. She had to be coaxed out with a dance that is still performed today at Shinto shrines.

Susanoo redeemed himself somewhat by killing a dragon that had been devouring young maidens.

Most Japanese gods -and there are a million or more - are often unnamed shadowy entities. They represent the living spirits of nature - kami.

6. Aztec - Quetzcoatl - the plumed serpent. This is the name of both a god and a Toltec ruler. The god supposedely stole the bones of man from the Gods of Death .The ruler was driven from the Toltec capital by Tezcoptilian - Smoking Mirror. He sailed east promising he would return someday -ironically the yoear he chose was the one in which Cortes showed up.

I know the most about 1 and 3, after that probably #2. encyclopediamythica.com is a good place to get details on various mythical figures; I'm not sure of any other sites or books that provide a good, in-depth look at multiple pantheons.
