I just finished reading a book called Alexander the Great: Legacy of a Conqueror, by Winthrop Lindsay Adams. Has anyone else read thiis book before? Alexander is one of my favourite historical icons: can anyone suggest any other books about the conqueror to me?

Rather than a book, I recommend part of a book: "The Outline of History" by H.G. Wells (yes, the guy who is better known for early science fiction). He devotes a substantial section of the book to Alexander. What he has to say may give you some new perspective.

No, but you can read about my favorite icon, Ben Franklin.

A good biography is the one by Walter Isaacson, 'An American Life' and it has a companion book of Franklin's own writings.
