I do a lot of beadwork myself and I also need a very bright, but cost-effective lighting system. I have found that the OTT-LITE brand lamp is by far the best on the market. It puts out very little heat and is quite compact, so it's very portable. If you just search for OTT-LITE on any search engine, you are sure to come up with numerous results. I believe they can be purchased on amazon.com for a reduced price, also. I would also suggest trying a bead or jewelry supply store online such as jewelrysupply.com. I hope this helps...

I would use a halogen desk lamp with a flexible neck the higher wattage lamps give more light. Just remember these can get hot. Don't be put off by the small bulbs they use. They are powerful.

The best thing to use is a DAYLIGHT bulb... enables you to work in near normal daylight light.
