I am really wanting to get my belly button pierced, but I am afraid that that might be a bad decision. What do you all think?

i got mine peirced when i was 18.
i'm, now, 26....here's my experience:
-it was fun
-it can be very sexy to the opposite sex, except i never wore belly shirts, so it was more intimate than many people make it.
-it can be a liberating, self-assurance kind of thing

however,
-mine was done a little too far back on belly button, so the hole was longer than some of the jewelry out there. i had to always wear rings or half rings. i couldn't fit a barbell or a curved barbell in it.
-it got infected every great once in a while...maybe 2 or 3 times over the past few years. never got an explanation for that one....
-i took it out about a year ago b/c i felt kind of over it. there is a permanent "mark/scar" there and it's not very attractive.
-i'm pregnant, now, and the "mark/scar" is kind of stretched out and pink and doesn't look very cute.

just some food for thought...do what is good for you!

I know a lot of people who have their belly button pierced and they didn't have any problems.
I don't see where the problem is. It could wear out, but then u can make a second one and the first one won't be visible anymore.
Maybe the hole stretches when u get pregnant, but that's just the risk u gotta take.
In my opinion, a pierced belly button is not a big deal. It's way worse if u have one in ur face. And it won't be that much visible if u don't like it anymore, after a while, and just take it out.

So if u really want it, just do it! It will hurt a little bit, but it sure will look good.
Do it as long as ur young!

Getting your navel pierced is exactly the same as getting any other part of your body pierced... its your decision, and you should be sure that you definitely want to do it. I had mine done about 7 years ago and enjoyed it for about a year - it gave me a good feeling when I played with it - and finally took it out a year and a half ago - it still hasn't healed up, though after a day, I wasn't able to put a bar back into it.

If you do get it done, make sure that you go to a good piercer - ask to see qualifications (though these should be on display), make sure they use disinfecants and gloves, and that the area is clean.

It's not a bad idea! I got mine pierced when I was 20 and I wore it for about 2 years. I took it out, and it healed up and I have a little scar, but nothing big. It is really a good experience too! I say do it!

If you get it done you really got to take care of it besides that theres nothing to worry about just as long as you take good care of or it will get infected just like any other piercing. I had my belly done for 4 years and nothing ever happen to it.

I have mine pierced. My fiance hated it, so I told him that when I got a ring on my finger that I would take the one in my belly button out, and that is what I did. When we got engaged I took it out. I still love belly button rings, but ever now and again you have to make small sacrifices to please your man. I mean he is committing the rest of his life to me, so mine is not that big of a deal!!

I got mine pierced when I was 16..and then at 18 exactly one year after it finally healed! (it stayed gross and infected) I took it out.. and now I have a hole still and you'll always be able to see it. It didn't hurt or anything. If you wanna do it go for it! But remember if you get pregnant...ewww

If you do get a piecing be sure you follow the directions and keep it very clean so it wont get infected. My daughter had hers done and clothing bothered it a lot so she took it out and let it heal up.

Everyone reacts differently, this is a hard question for someone else to answer on your behalf.

well it depends on how good you are at taking care of your other piercings.
it doesnt hurt a lot and it is pretty easy to take care of, all you have to do is;
1. dont touch it until you wash your hands
2. clean it once a day
3. dont go in the pool or jacuzzi

if you can do those things daily for about 2 months then go for it! you have nothing to lose and you can always take it out if you dont want it :]
