why do I feel grateful for having been with this person even though it's over. i don't long for anyone else and i don't understand why people always say that you can keep someone in your heart forever but find another person to move on with.
why is that when no one else can ever replace him and the memories keep me feeling loved.

You cannot replace one person with another person. Each person/love in your life is unique and special for his own reasons.
My husband died suddenly four years ago. He'll always be in my heart and I wouldn't want it any other way. I know how much we loved each other. Now, however, I've begun to move on with my life and am in the early stages of loving someone else. He's very different from my husband in some ways, and I don't compare them. He will NEVER replace my husband, but he is special in his own way and, who knows, he may become my husband.

Eternal love that is lost in time forever.
Just like you had your best friend in kinder-garden, and no other relationship will ever be like your best friend in kinder-garden ... no other person will love you the way this person did. It's like a snow flake. The time you spent together can NEVER be taken away from you.
However, you will not bond with this person in the future. You can start repairing your heart by taking your eyes away from the past and focus on the present. Take a look at who you are, who you want to be and how to get there. Sure, review the past if it will help you set this goal, but don't dwell in the past for too long.
Just like in kinder-garden, you couldn't imagine this person who's in your heart now, you can't imagine the person who you will commit a life of love, friendship, and hardships to. Someone who shares your same values, goals, and dreams with ... who possibly can open your imagination to change your dreams and make you reach higher.
So, don't think of this as the "End" but think of it as the "Beginning"!!!

"love is not someone's possession" - so its never earned nor never lost.......
LOVE IS LOVE............. A beautiful feeling ....... may be the "BLISS".......
if you love some one , its not necessary that he/she should love you in return...... but its equally true that he/she should know that you got some feelings for him/her.
LOVE is not exam so that you should expect some result..... its the prayer that consolidates you........
LOVE is the rhyme that makes your life smooth & opulent....
To answer your question :-
1) you feel grateful for having been with him even though its over.........
Because you had a great time with him.... may be the best part of life till the date........

Because he is afreshed in your memories..... if you look at some one, you are looking for him in that person..... which is not possible as each one is unique in all respect.... but i believe if ever you wish to have someone for you, he will be definiely be the best for you....

Its obvious...... you can walk lonely (may be the with some faded memories and retrogating)... but if have some one with you, you will enjoy the journey. its the moral of LIFE.
i think you are enough matured to take your own decesions.... but let me tell you - "making a relationship is easier, but the problem lies in maintaining it....". if ever it is possible please try to have a talk with your love..... may be its a misunderstanding.... later you may find someone to be with you.... but you will always miss him... this may embarrass you at that time, but please don't feel humilated..... because these are rhe memories of your good days......

You've finally found satisfaction which for me lasted 2 days it will end eventually. you feel this way because it was the best experience you've ever had and the memories will keep you blissed out for a while but you will love again.
