I have a 5 month old, and she doesn't eat the suggested amout either, but she's gaining weight and growing normally otherwise. I know that sometimes when she won't take a bottle I do try solids mixed with a little cereal. This way I know she's getting nutrients. I would really say not to worry unless her growth is abnormal. Try to feed her a couple ounces every hour or so. If you offer it often enough she'll drink an ounce here or there and it may be just enough to get you to the 24oz mark. Distraction while I'm feeding the baby works well. Beacuse she's older she's more observant of things around her. She needs more stimulation, so if she's looking at a toy, or the television she tends to eat for longer. At this age she is also starting to change her metabolism during the night so that she doesn't need night-time feedings. If you don't wake her up, she may be hungry enough when she decides to wake up that she'll want to eat more. She will let you know when she's hungry, just as she lets you know when she's not. Overall, as long as she's healthy, don't stress.

My 5 1/2 month old daughter is the same way, and maybe even a little more extreme. She still only goes 3 hours between feeds, but will only take 3-4 oz. She still wakes at night as well, but I'm not sure if it's hunger or habit. I think that as long as your baby is healthy and growing well that there is nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't worry about it. If she is hungry she will let you know. My son is 3 months old and has never had a set amount he eats. Sometimes he only eats 2ozs every 3 hours and sometimes he'll eat 4oz every 2 hours.
As long as she is developing well then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Good luck!

That's only 4 oz. less. She'll be fine. Even at that age kids know what they need and when they need it. When she's hungry, she'll eat. Good luck :-)

If your baby is hungry she will let you know. I would not wake her up at night if her weight and measurments were fine. You could always add a little baby rice to the formula.

stop the mid night feeding, don't wake her up for it! If she may start drinking more if she doesn't get enough. You don't force her to eat.

She will gradually increase her appitite. In the mean time, sneak in a little more milk at unusual times, and also more in each bottle. Good Luck!
