All speeds are units of distance per unit of time. You can break speed down into different time units, for example feet/second, feet/millisecond (1 1000th of a second), feet/microsecond (1 one millionth of a second), feet/nanosecond (1 1,000,000,000 of a sec), feet/picosecond (1 1,000,000,000,000 of a sec) and so on. You can also break it down by distances (inches/sec, microns/sec, meters/sec, kilometers/sec, etc.)
