sounds like layers of wax...regular ammonia and water will cut through that, remove the dirt, and have it ready for a new life. Been there

I rented an apartment with nasty kitchen and bathroom floors. Before I could move in I had to scrub and scrub and scrub. I finally used that purple engine cleaner that you buy at auto stores. It cut that grease when nothing else would. Use gloves, though, as it will make your hands rough.

Ammonia and water in a bucket, one cup of ammonia in the bucket, for stubborn areas apply direct. Open windows for ventilation, but ammonia will remove the most stubborn stains

I used powdered dishwasher soap mixed with amonia and it worked wonders on one woman's floor. I cleaned houses for 14 yrs and sometimes you just get desparate! Oven cleaner works wonders on bathroom soapscum buildup also!

I had a vinyl floor that nothing would get clean. Then found this at a hardware store, of all places. Armstrong concentrated floor cleaner, it was unbelievable.

have you tried lighter fluid. like for a zippo . do a little spot with a small towel like a spot test for dulling. the a clean up with mild soap and water like murpheys oil soap

Those white Mr.Clean scrubbing (soft eraser-like) pads can clean anything.

clean it with a mop or brush with ammonia and water to remove dirt and old wax then rinse........ put polish over it
