it depends on the nature of the problem.

I'll serarch Error messages within google but If I have a Software usability issue, I tend to go to a Yahoo discussion group, rather than search.

If you find you need help quite a bit - find some good techie people that you can add to you instant messnger (if they don't mind you bugging them)

Microsoft and Google.

If the problem is with a Microsoft product, I go there first.
If that doesn't work or it is not Microsoft I hit Google.

if you have a windows problem where you get a pop-up window, that window will give you a code. the code can be looked up at jsifaq.com. there you can find what resource is the culprit with your operating system. for hardware, i refer to newgg tech support and wikipedia.
hope this helps!

www.google.com or www.yahoo.com

be sure to write the right keywords, else you may not get good results...

keywords within quotes such as "mouse is slow" may be used

explore and you will find many websites dedicated to computers the way you like and you may stick to them

Google is great however if I have a specific problem I usually ask in the overclockers forum as you can get more specific advice.
