First thought someone hit it on top, but after my bike died i tried to open my gas cap and there was a whole lot of air pressure in there which sorta helped the dent come back out. My bike is a 2006 YZF600R. Any help would be greatly appreciated. After releasing the air from the tank, I had no problem with starting it right up and riding to work. I still have a small dent though.

Get that gas cap vent clear so the pressure does not build in the tank.

I agree with the guy at the bottom, vacuum locked. That tells you why you had a dent. Also, it didnt start because the suction from the carbs could not overcome the vacuum lock in the gas tank. Fix the vents in the gas cap.

The gas cap vent isn't clear. Try to blow through it with a blow gun or buy a new gas cap.

the only answer is to clear the vent and keep it clear or get a new cap with better vent in it
