Implantation bleeding occurs 6-12 days after conception. The fertilized egg will attach itself to the uterine wall. While attaching and burrowing into the wall it can sometimes cause some light bleeding (usually pinkish or brown in color), the blood is cause by the breaking of blood vessels in the uterine wall. Although you may feel some light cramping you will not have allot of pain. The bleeding should last about 2 days. Just so you know in addition to implantation bleeding you may also have a few days of spotting at your expected time of period due to your bodies hormonal changes. While researching this some sites may say that you have implantation bleeding at the time of period, yes this may be true however if your egg attaches say at about 6 days rather than the later 12 days this is not at the time of your period so you may again bleed at time of period. Sounds like you may be pregnant...best of luck

Implantation bleeding is bleeding caused by a fertilized egg attaching itself to the lining of a females uterus. After conception occurs, the fertilized egg will travel to the uterus, attach itself and begin to develop into a baby. Not all females experience implantation bleeding. It is usually a brownish or pinkish color and it should be very light like spotting. There really shouldn't be any pain but there may be very light cramping. It takes 6 to 12 days after conception for a fertilized egg to reach and attach to the uterus, this is when implantation bleeding may start.

Implantation bleeding:
You may notice a small amount of spotting or bleeding very early in pregnancy, about 10 to 14 days after fertilization. Known as implantation bleeding, it happens when the fertilized egg attaches to the lining of your uterus. It's usually earlier, spottier and lighter in color than a normal menstrual period, and it doesn't last long. Some women actually mistake this light bleeding for a period and don't realize they're pregnant.

Implantation bleeding is where the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterus which causes bleeding.
Most of the time it is a brownish tint to it. If you have any red spotting call your doc. ASAP. It may be a sign of miscarriage.
As far as pain, you may experience cramping like your period is starting. Anything severe, again call your doctor....
I am 9 weeks pregnant and have experienced it.

Implantation bleeding happens when a fertilized egg attaches to your uterine lining. It usually happens around the time you would normally expect your period and it's typically very light and pinkish brown color and can last up to 2 days. Typically it's not anywhere near what I normal period would be. You might cramp around the time of implantation, but it's not uncommon to have no cramping and no bleeding at all.

In general, implantation happens about 9 days or so after ovulation while your period usually starts about 14 days after ovulation. Also, implantation bleeding is usually spotting, it's scanty, pinkish and not red and heavy like a period, and does not follow the normal pattern of a period (light to heavy to light). And it rarely if ever lasts longer than a day or two.

It shouldn't be painful and it could be many shades of blood. It's caused from the fetus implanting itself in the uterus. It dislodges some of the blood that lines the walls.
