It is a pretty common procedure, but there is always a risk involved when someone is under anesthesia. On the other hand, you're talking about your wedding and sending out invitations. Anything could happen. Even after your invitations are sent out. If you're going to wait for everything to be perfect, and the world to be safe from all possible accidents, you'll never get married. You're MIL sounds a little controlling. Do what you and your fiance think is best for the both of you, and make sure MIL knows the decision is coming from BOTH of you.

A hysterectomy is a common procedure but as with any surgery nothing is a guaranteed. You know when your wedding is and most people need a couple of months notice if it is going to be a big wedding. Ask the print shop what is the lastest possible time to have a print job ordered. Focus on being a good future sister in law and be supportive for your future in laws. Hopefully all will go well with your sister in law and your wedding.

Well she could die but you can die by being hit by a car too. You never know what could happen. i have no idea what your mother in law has to say about anything!! It's your wedding not hers. Do what you feel is right. How far away is the wedding? how far away is the surgery?
You can always wait if it makes you feel better but I don't see the harm in getting them printed the chances of anything happening is pretty slim.

Is the date already set for the surgery because maybe she is worried that the surgery and wedding date could conflict. Maybe she is just a worrier and as with most worriers they seem to want everyone to worry with them.
