Can bombing alone and not invading by physical presence on ground effectively take out the threat?

I don't think there will be sufficient justification until there is verified non-energy producing development and implementation of fissile material.

That may have already happened, but there has to be some serious documentation of such (in the face of the Iraqi question of 2003). That being said, we should also point out the nuclear activity is not the only place Iran is thumbing its nose at the world:

Human Rights Record
Religious Tolerance
Treatment of the Imprisoned
Basis of Imprisonment
Freedom of Press
Freedom of Speech
Arming of paramilitary organizations and terrorists
Providing aid and comfort to internationally wanted criminals

All these can be cobbled together to make a case that the regime in Iran is hostile and uncooperative with global interests and should be dealt with by resolution, sanction and force.

As long as China, India, Russia and Japan need its oil, forget about it. Looks like we'll go it alone, again.

The U.S. Military is spread to thin right now to launch another invasion of any country at the moment. Not to mention there would be little or no public support of this action. The U.S. will most likely end up sitting tight here until some one else sparks the flames, until then i highly doubt the US would invade anyone right now.

US will not strike Iran Now.

It may, in the near future, when
US can mobilise all the members
of the UN Security Council. It
may take one more year, before
making all the member countries
agree to put sanctions on Iran.

Also, when the taliban and the alqueda
are nailed or their leaders are killed.

They could bomb Iran, but there is no chance that the US would actually have enough resources to actually invade. Iran, is after all, a lot bigger than Iraq (though the names are deceptively similar).

There is absolutely no legal justification to do so. But that hasn't stopped the US before. And if the US wants to open up a third front, because everything is going so well at home, why not...

I am sorry. This is what we thought before that it is not possible. I think now US has got everything in place and what it needs is aother 9/11 to go ahead. God save all of us.

A mad bull CAN do anything. It really can repeatedly pound itself against a wall until either it dies or someone shoots it to relieve it from the self inflicted agony.

I don't put it past Bush to do it the night before the November elections.

never, the war is wrong. every war is wrong. we are not wild animals that solve their problems by fighting eachother (as much as i know), there are negotiations to solve problems. bush calls himself president of war, i would say he is the president of wildness. i think he is so greedy for military incomes that he risks millions of lives and billions of dollars for ideas he develope over no valid (and proven) information.
