Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, on August 9, 1896.
His interests in studying others began as a child. At age 10, his frustration with the lack of regard people had for children (his librarian, in particular), caused Piaget to write a short work on the sighting of an Albino Sparrow. It was published and people soon began respecting and taking him seriously, even as a child; thus began his long line of work.

He spotted the sparrow in 1906, at the age of ten. No articles say why he wrote the one page article.
