1.) Jill earns $120 for 8 hours of work. At the same pay rate, how much will she earn for 15 hours of work?

Step 1: Write as an equation:
8x = 120 (x is hourly wage)
x = 15

Thus, 15x = $225

2.) If 8x + 5 = 21, then 3 x + 4 =
8x + 5 = 21
8x = 21-5 (subtract 5 from both sides)
8x = 16
x = 2 (divide both sides by 8)

if x = 2 then:
3x + 4 = 3 * 2 + 4 = 10 (solution)

Jill earns $120 for 8 hours of work.

so she gets $120/8 per hour, which is $15.

if she works for 15 hours at a pay of $15 an hour, then she will make $15 x 15 which is $225.

for the second question,
8x + 5 = 21
8x = 21 - 5
8x = 16
x = 2

so you plug x=2 into the equation 3x + 4, which is 3(2) + 4 = 6 + 4 = 10

If I figured this out right $120 divided by 8 hours is $15 hour so then you take that and mulitply it by 15 hours and you get $225

For the other one that would be 8(2)+5=21, then 3(2)+4=10

well at the same pay rate jill would get 225 dollars cause she gets 15 dollars and hour but in your equations x= 2 cause
8(2)+5= 21 so 3(2)+4= 10

120 divided by 8 would be 15, so she makes $15 an hour. 15 x 15 would be $225.

8x + 5= 21, subtract 5, so
8x=16, divide both sides by two
x=2
therefore substitute 2 for x
3x+4 becomes 3(2)+4,
6+4=
10.

120= 8x
then
120/8=x
120/8=15

15*15=225

8x+5=21
then
8x=21-5
8x=16
x=16/8
x=2

then 3x+4=
3(2)+4=
6+4=10

The naswer is 10 because x= 2 because you have to work it out by going backwards.
E.g. 21-5 and then 16 divided by 8
Good luck with the rest of maths homework.
Hope it helped
