Work it out with her- try to meet int he middle-if not, you can go to court to get that ruled on too. Ask her this way, I was thinking it might be difficult for your to trvel all the way here to drop off ______. lets meet half way so that it makes it easier on everyone. Most times people like to do drop off and pick up at a neutral site-in public- it helps to reduce the chance of fighitng.

Check to see what the court papers have to say. I would think for the best interest of the child, that the two parents could split the travel time. Either mom drops the child off at the others home and then dad takes the child back, or meet half way.

Why don't you just have her drop him off on the side of the road with a hitchhiking sign?

Seriously, if this is such a hardship to you perhaps you should go to court and have the child support amount adjusted to take into account the cost of gas. But be aware that the judge might laugh you out of the courtroom.

BTW do you smoke cigarettes? Go out for fast food? Drink alcohol? If you cut back on these expensive luxuries you would have more money for gas.

And lastly, this is your boyfriend not your husband so you really have no say in any of this.

My son lives with me. His dad gets him every other weekend. For the most part he comes the whole way to get him. If I am in the area I will pick him up or drop him off. If I moved farther away I would probably meet him. Now I live about 30 minutes away. I suppose if there is nothing written in legal documents then there's not a whole lot you can do other than work something out yourselves. Maybe you could pick him up and then when it is time for him to go home she could come get him.

I have a similar situation and I don't think there are cut and dry guidelines, just whatever was in the custody agreement. If the cost is worth it, maybe a lawyer can prepare an amendment.

She does not have to meet you half way. It's your boyfriends responsibility to pick his son up and return him at the agreed upon time. It would be the same if he had custody...the mother would have to make the trek.
