Either be specially nice to your nan and ask her to tell you, or wait until you are that certain age.

You are lucky to have a nice nan. When you are a nan your self, do the same.

Such arrangements run all the way from:

Nan bought some stock in her own name and intends to give it to you at a certain age.[if she remembers and still likes you]

to

a complex trust arrangement with executors, clauses etc.

Such arrangements are private matters. The only way you can find out the details is from Nan. It is probably not a bright idea to quiz her.

Ever hear "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" ? It is probably good advice in this case. You are lucky to have a gift possibility. Be grateful. Time will pass, and in due course, it will be a pleasant reality, or it won't exist and it won't matter.

Two likely possibilities here:

1) The investment was made in a 'custodial account' which means that as soon as you turn 18 or 21 (depending on your state) the assets automatically become yours without any further authority of the custodian, or

2) A trust was established which means that you might not have access to the funds until you're older, which would be spelled out in the trust document.

But as someone above said, just wait and enjoy the wealth you'll accumulate over the years. You'll be glad you did.

Oh, and by the way, why don't you take the time to write with better grammar? "What is my rights"? Man that's really bad.
