No I do not believe the mentally insane should be allowed too own guns......
The only mentally insane people that should be allowed too own guns are the democrats.......after all they would not be smart enough too know how too use them!

The term "mentally insane" is far too broad to be a useful category.
Someone can be insane because they are obsessive compulsive and need to know exactly where every one of their possessions is at all times, and need to insure that nobody touches their things.
Someone like is just as safe owning a gun as anyone else, and often more so than many people who are less attentive to details.
So, it all depends on what their personal insanity happens to be.

It depends. Not all mentally ill are violent. Not all mentally ill are even diagnosed. You have to take each patient, see what their illnesses and symptoms are, and then make a decision on their gun application.
BTW, insane is usually a legal term, meaning the defendant is mentally unfit or unable to stand trial. Mentally ill describes the actual illness. They are two different issues. (Sorry to nitpick.)
