I thought you all claimed the draconian anti-gun laws prevented that stuff. Oh well, when guns are outlwed, we now see only outlaws have guns.

My condolences to all who paid the price of liberalism and thier stupid views.

Oh how the tap dancers haved posted. I knew it. Why can't you folks just admit, that using prima facia evidence, gun laws do not work except disarming the law abiding. Even now, canucks just don't get it. Look at the college and ask, how many more!

It's strange, when Columbine occurred all I heard from Canadians were expressions of sympathy and concern. Pretty much the same for9/11 & Katrina. I guess friendship only goes 1 way.

The gun controls work fairly well in that most gun deaths are in private homes, and the police have said that the gun control and registry have brought down this kind of violence and made their job a little bit safer. It's true that by definition illegal guns are not part of the gun control/registry system. Illegal guns are still available, it is more difficult. There is also a gun smuggling problem from across the border.
Although our gun control and registry system did not prevent this unfortunate and tragic event, it almost certainly did make it more difficult. Your statement " . . . condolences to all who paid the price of liberalism . . ." implying that this was somehow caused by the gun registry and control is of course ludicrous.

our gun laws prevent folks from owning and carrying handguns without permits to do so.
the folks who stormed the college did not use handguns
the gun laws are not draconian; go to the dictionary and look under D
the guns are not outlawed here, we simply try to control who has access to and uses them a little more than your country does.
if you have a criminal record, mental illness, history of poor storage of firearms, and if you do not pass a very basic written test showing you understand the very basics of fire-arm usage , then you don't get a permit. then, you go the route of buying one of those illegal guns smuggled over the border from the usa
of course, people who pass these tests are still people and can still get a gun even though they probably shouldn't be allowed to.
your view of Canadian law is very superficial and reactionary.
Canadians are not anti-gun as much as anti-gunman
my uncle has a large ranch near Calgary Alberta. my summers spent there were all about guns and hunting. his job, his life is taking big trophy hunters after their prize. I understand a lot about guns. and I know you don't put guns in the hands of anyone who wants one. you train them before they ever hold a gun. you control who owns them so you know who to look to when they are used inappropriately. it is folly to think you control them so you can control their use. we cannot predict or control human nature.

Can you reallly be that ignorant to believe that jsut b ecause we have a lot of gun restrictions that shootings don't sdtill take place in Canada....

Seriously, there is no real solution to the gun problem, and let's face it; people kill with guns, all the government can do is try their best to monitor and restrict those who don't need it. WE NEVER CLAIMED TO HAVE A MURDERLESS SOCIETY MORON!

And of course - THIS would NEVER have happened in the U.S.A. I mean - every American college student brings a gun with him to school. You know... just in case. [sigh] Craig

Actually when you outlaw guns for the people, only outlaws AND lawmen have guns.

Using the logic that comes with the phrase maybe we should allow anyone that wants one to have a nuclear bomb. If you outlaw nuclear bombs, only outlaws will have nuclear bombs, right?

And just how dumb does this make you sound? Real Dumb. None of the people involved chose the situation they were in. Your condolences don't go to far when you insult people for what their government has done.
