Try starting out with a sheer lip gloss. Burts Bees makes colored glosses that are inexpensive and help with chapping as well as provide some color to your lips. From there maybe do a little bit of eyeliner, in a soft color not black, or mascara.

A little sheer, but colored, lip gloss is a great start! Origins has some great colors (minty and not sticky--awesome) that look good on almost every skin color--go to a store and they'll help you pick one that will look best on you. (Everone I know wears Fruit Punch.)
Beyond the gloss, a sweep of mascara (easy for beginners) just on your top lashes will do wonders to open up and accentuate your eyes without making you look "made up." Use brown if you have light hair/eyes and black if you have dark hair/eyes. Stay away from the other flashy colored ones, like blue, purple, or pink.
I DON'T reccommend eye shadow or foundation for a beginner who doesn't normally wear make up. These are too easy to over-do and look trampy. Besides, your skin is probably great because you haven't been wearing all that junk! Your skin looks best plain, or maybe with a bit of powder or concealer--but have someone at the store help you out a few times before trying these on your own.
A sheer glow of blush or bronzer can also be an instant "pretty" booster, but make sure you're using a light touch and BLENDING. Make a big smile and lightly brush the rounded cheek "apples" of your face, a little on the bridge of your nose (aim for the parts that get sun burned--because that will look the most natural) and maybe along your forehead at the hairline. Someone at a store can show you how to do this, too.
But you really should feel a million times better with just lip gloss and mascara! Go to a "good" store, like Origins or Aveda or a department store, first and have them show you some application tips and how to choose good colors for your skin type. After that, you can go to target or Wal-mart (or wherever) and get the same kinds of stuff for realistic prices.
I still wouldn't skimp on the lip-gloss tho! Origins gloss (in Fruit Punch) is the best in the business and worth every penny--it last a long time too!
I love being a girl and accentuating the positives with a littel make-up celebrates our girldom! Have fun!

Well, it's a question of what you want to play up. I like my eyes a lot, and feel unnatural when I put on lipstick, so I wear colorful eyeliner and mascara and do nothing with my mouth.
Start with something basic and simple, you don't want to freak yourself out or look like a clown. Maybe get a light powder and a mascara or a neutral lipstick and see what you like. Maybe go to a place with a makeup counter, and talk to someone who works there, get a consultation, and decide on a look that really suits you. Don't be suckered into buying something you don't absolutley love, however, especially if it's expensive. If sparkly makeup looks good on you, but you're totally a hippie and feel dumb wearing it, go with what you feel comfortable with, not what someone else tells you suits you.
Talk to someone who knows what they're doing, and follow your gut, but start with the basics, and build from there if you want. You'll be fine.

Just go light, use powder so your face is not shiny and oily and then put on a coat of mascara and some lip gloss. You will feel better and you will look better. Just a little can make a big difference. Good luck also know that most the guys always say they like natural beauty so keep it simple.

You can go to a department store and ask for a makeup session. You can call the 1-800 for Avon and a salesperson could help you or call Mary Kay for a personal consultation. Sephora or MAC is a lot of fun. Good luck!!

For something quick, I use foundation to even out skin tone, light powder, some blush, mascera, and lip gloss. Polished, yet uncomplicated, and you can dress it up for nighttime by adding eye shadow and eye liner. If you want help matching your skin tone (which I highly recommend), visit a makeup counter or find a local Mary Kay representative online.

if you don't wear makeup and you want to start, just use 3 simple fixes:
mascara, bronzer, and lip gloss.
this won't give you a heavy makeup look, but it helps define your features-- especially mascara (use black if you have a dark skin tone, and use brown if you have fair skin).
apply bronzer to your cheeks, forehead, and bridge of your nose with a giant makeup brush. don't put on too much or you will look orange.
pick a lip gloss that's tinted. clear or berry colors work best w/ most skin tones.

Try to wear mascara, light pink eye shadow and clear lip gloss. It's as simple as that but I'm such a tomboy too and that's what I usually wear.
