I am asking this because I read an article this AM that tells people that they don't have to buy the number of items that the store advertises, you know buy 10 for $10.00. It got me wondering if the stores are doing this because enough people think that this is how it works.

Of course people will think they have to buy the 10 items. It is the power of marketing and suggestion. Also, if you go to other stores, routinely things are advertised as buy 1 get 1 free or at 1/2 off. You can't get they discount if you just buy one. So logically, they think the same thing applies to items at a grocery store.

Many people will think that they have to buy the 10 items to get the discount or they are simply too stupid to read the advertisement.

Stores do this as a way to sell more product, just like they advertise something at $1.99 because many people will think of it as an item costing a dollar instead of two.

Nope I usually buy no more than 4 items if it's a 10 for 10 deal.

Actually, Yes I think that is probably why the article was written. I will buy the limit IF it is something I know I will need & USE. Soups, veggies, etc. But my mother-in-law cracks me up, I have seen her buy things that I have NEVER seen her use because it is on a sale like this. I'll ask her, "Mom, do you need that?" She usually just smiles & says, "You never know!" I just smile to myself. You would have to see her pantry & garage to get as big of a kick out of it her family does, but have you ever noticed some of the warnings companies have had to add to their items & wondered WHO actually did that & probably sued the company when whatever went wrong, so the company had to add a common sense warning???
My favorite is those windshield covers that keep the sun out.... Mine has a warning-----NOT TO DRIVE WITH SOLAR SHIELD IN THE WINDOW!!!! Can you believe THAT??

At most clothing stores, you have to buy the exact number i.e.: tank tops 2 for $10 or $7.50 each. It's not always marked which way it works at the grocery. I bet a lot of people think you have to buy all ten.

I know one big Canadian chain does this on their regular pricing (superstore). And you do have to buy in full multiples in order to get the discounted price. It will say on the shelf price sticker 4.95 or 3 for 13.65 for example. But most grocery stores it is a gimmick to sell more.

The a million he has now feels like this is been international and lower back in a stampede. i be responsive to that doesn't entire as much as $a million,000, yet this is all i'm wanting in the present day.
