The Libertarian party believes in small government, low taxes, minimal social services and handouts, minimal govt or corporate regulation, no interference in the capitalist free market, strong personal liberals and individual accountability, fiscal and personal responsibility, and the rights of every individual to live their lives without being controlled by others.

The have both broad long term goals, and specific realistic plans on how to start implementing those goals in the short term.

Quick (very basic) overview:

Libertarians believe that everyone should be able to live as they wish (without government interference) provided you don't violate the rights of other people to do the same thing. Libertarians believe the government should be very small in both size and cost, and there should be no laws that stifle the economy and affect people's personal choices.

Like liberals, Libertarians strongly support personal tolerance...of lifestyles, beliefs, and habits.

Like conservatives, Libertarians are in favor of low taxes, cutting bureaucratic regulations, and charitable...rather than governmental...welfare.
