They are in every room in the house... it's difficult keeping the windows shut all the time as it is unseasonally warm here in the UK at the moment. What can we do to deter them?... yet again at our wits end.

Do you have crane flies or do you have daddy long legs. Crane flies look like mosquitoes but are more ferocious looking but the do not bite people. They eat mosquitoes and spiders.

If you have granddaddy long legs they are coming in to escape the heat. The broom is probably the most efficient method of eliminating them, second only to a good shopvac. If they are only outside the house, there really isn't any danger to you, and they are basically insectivorous creatures (eat other insects), and therefore, can be called beneficial insects.

As far as biting, they have a very weak venon, and no one should have a problem with a bit from them unless they are highly allergic to spider bites, and the likelihood of getting a spider bite is practically zero in the surroundings you describe.

If they should really become a problem, the best chemical remedy is to fan-spray the areas where they seem to find shelter with a wettable powder insecticide in water, generally a form of pyrethroid like that found in Tempo WP or other similar products. They are extremely low in odor, colorless, and have a good residual, even up to 60 days in some instances, but usually averaging 30 days if properly applied.

worry is an evolutionary habit conditioned into wise existence. without worry, animals would not understand the upcoming possibility of a predator or different aggressive animal. With too a lot worry, animals would not be in a position to kick back down for a acceptable meal without being spooked by employing something. So, to respond to your question, worry is a really organic, environmentally-conditioned reaction to stimuli.

Use bug bombs! You can find them in the pest control section of your local hardware store. You might have to do it more than once because of the eggs that will hatch later. You should also check the caulking and seals on all your doors and windows that lead outside. Check for cracks in your outside walls, and seal them up. Hope this helps!
