I wonder if it's just our nature to be really judgemental, or if it's something everyone learns at some point because we're all so insecure, and it helps us cope with that?
What do you think of judging others? How do you deal with it?

Your pondering is right on. Judgment comes from holding expectations, which comes from lack of experience, which would, if one had it, provide the knowledge that all are doing the best he/she can. To ascertain the condition of a person's personality is simply an act of observation, but to judge that condition is ignorance.

Well it is human nature to learn from experience
fromm the most mundane to the most complex.

So if some one does something say cheats on someone we will think about all the times we know about when people cheated and what that meant, and what the person was like to help us decide what we think about the other person.

Even if we think nothing bad of someone that is still a judgement. It is a function of the brain to way up situations and analyse them.

This means that I think its wrong to hit children and i don't apologise for that.

I cannot stop other people judging me but unless i know them and respect their judgement i don't usually care.

By judging each other we're making ourselves believe that there are people, who make more mistakes then we do. According to that it is our nature. But it is not bad because somehow it gives us the understand of what we are doing good or bad. However our judgment is not always right. That's why we must think well before saying anything. It is the only way to deal with it, I suppose.

Well as far as I can tell there are two natures to the beast so-to-speak. There is our soul or spirit and the more pure tendances, and there is our flesh and our darker tendancies. It is the classic battle of good and evil. Flesh and Spirit. It depends on where you are in that battle what your true nature is to do because both are our true nature. We are a spirit born into the flesh. A paradoc philosophers have pondered for ages.

I think judging others is shallow and sucks, and hard not to do....unfortunately.
I deal with it by praying and being aware of myself!

Good Luck!

Yes it is in human nature for SOME people to judge each other. We are not all insecure but have some problems in dealing with problems. How to deal with it- write down thing that make you feel good about yourself and think of all the good things that make you who you are when someone cuts you down. I don't believe in cutting down people because it makes me look like I am uncomfortable with myself.

Judging someone come naturally, just like walking or talking. It's there in your head when your were born, everyone judges everything. It's impossible not to. For eg. Her hair is long, here you would judge the length of someone's hair. How can you not think of that when you see someone who has long hair and you're not blind? See, it there, mentally. You can't stop actly naturally, it's what people do.

I think it is human nature. We are always judging people for breeding purposes basically to keep the species going.

I feel like we all judge each other in some way. They key is to stay aware of it so you don't become too harsh. We can have opinions of people while still keeping in mind that nobody is perfect and that's what makes us individuals.

we judge because we want to show that we are better and above all that "scum" that we judge. as if- we are happier, smarter, nothin so bad can happen to us! we try to lock up in our small circles where we feel safe. why do so many people still think that only gays and junkies get aids? like-"oh,he/she has aids, well, he was probably s*rewing around with anyone" - and in fact that's the way to express fear of desease.

you must be really stupid to ask a question like that! i am so much smarter than you.

(get it? and yeah, i think it is totally a coping mechanism because it seems to me the most judgmental people are also the ones who are the least pleased with their own lives. great question)
