I have found that Advil works wonders. Also lay a hot wet washcloth over your stomach for some reason it seems to calm cramps. I've also found that continuing to exercise even though you may feel bad can help cut down on the cramps.

I have gotten that sharp pain before as well. I don't know what it is and the doctor said it was a normal sensation. I usually take an over-the-counter menstrual medication like Pamprin with a mild diuretic in it. Also know that if you have a nasty, nagging headache, it might be a migraine and try a generic migraine medication (usually next to Excedrin Migraine). All these have been very helpful but occasionally I still get some breakthrough symptoms and a day of depression. Can't seem to get rid of that.

i use to have so much pain at that time of the month ,it would have me rolling in the floor I couldn't keep anything on my stomach and I couldn't go to school because of the heaviness of the fol, went to the doctor he told me ,I has a twisted wound ,and could not have kids well 40 years I got 5 kids 11 grands and 4 great grands the pains stop after the birth of my first child(don't have a baby just to stop the pain, kids and motherhood is a job
doesn't matter how old they get ,they will always need you , the older the more problems I love my kids (all grown up now)

Like you i get unbearible cramps. I know how you feel believe me.
Here's some ideas to help you.

A couple days before your period, when you get cravings for chocolate or salt.... dont eat them! for some reason they make cramps worse. I find that pamprin ( an over the counter medication) works best for cramps. When the pamprine starts to kick in do some housework or go for a walk. for some reason this helps. also, get a heating pad or a hot water bottle and put it on your belly. This helps a bit.

I hope you feel better.

I find taking evening primrose oil tablets every day makes my periods better - less painful and also makes me much less premenstrual.

When I have pain a couple of things that work apart from pain killers are gentle exercise and another thing is to lie on the floor, and raise your self up on your arms and stretch your tummy out. Its a yoga position can't remember what its called.

Some of my friends say going on the pill has helped them with their periods so maybe if all else fails speak to the doctor about it.

Pamprin is great. Stay hydrated. Stay away from caffeine and salty foods. Try to keep active, if you can't do regular excercises at least go for a slow walk. Also, look for the heat pads that you stick on like a bandaid...they are great!

Take Ibuprofen a coulple of days before your period and continue during the duration, this will cut down on bleeding and should get rid of the pain and will stop the bleeding probably a day early.

take MIDOL I USED TO HAVE terrible cranps but MIDOL took care of that tylenol just made the cramps worse.
THE BEST part of taking these pills is that after a while you will no longer have any pain during your periods. oo take MIDOL TEEN they donnot have any caffeine.
